It is generally accepted that acne is the result of hormonal imbalances within the body. Adolescent acne, acne at some point in pregnancy or menstruation have an apparent link to moments when the body has such irregularities in effect. Concerning acne beyond the teenage years, in men or even in women that are not expecting the hormonal link is present but is not so clear.
The valid issue to be answered at this point is in what way the hormonal imbalances come about external to these relatively noticeable times.
There are principally three areas that may be isolated as being the reason for acne and can show the way to an effective acne treatment program. None are a single reason in themselves. Each one has a co-dependence to the others creating a kind of downhill spiral of acne outbreaks.
1. Eating habits
Very often what you eat is invalidated as a source of acne. This has occurred because of such acne “old wives tales” as eating bread triggers acne. Or that eating candy triggers acne. The trouble with such myths is that they oversimplify the subject so significantly that the truth gets turned into a catchword in place of an explanation.
The reality is that selected foods do produce acne but they do not cause acne alone. Several foods are not assimilated satisfactorily by the body or set off adverse reactions in the body in the presence of stress or whilst the person is in a condition of hormonal imbalance. That is why some people can consume all the wrong things and still not develop acne. Yet other individuals eat just the smallest possible amount of something and they breakout inside minutes.
Also in this grouping is the question of synthetic food additives and hormones fed to food stock animals. It may possibly not be YOUR hormones that are the trouble; it may well be the hormones in the meat or dairy goods you are eating.
It is not diet by itself that causes acne. It is food intake in concert with the emotional circumstances of the individual and the hormonal condition of the person that triggers acne.
2. Hormones
Hormones are acknowledged as the source of acne yet this too is not totally true.
This is best understood with examples instead of a long winded description.
For example, you have fast food and nothing but fast food every day. That food is full of oils, carbohydrates and sugars that are understood to be bad for you and trigger acne. Your companion consumes the same items however gets no acne. You get acne… why?
There exist two possibilities really. First, you have a hormonal imbalance already that hinders your body from absorbing the food correctly resulting in additional acne outbreaks.
Alternately, the food itself creates a hormonal imbalance leading to acne outbreaks. As you can see they are each related and we nevertheless have one more to go!
3. Stress or Emotion
Much has been written in relation to the effects of stress and emotional factors as being a basic trigger of acne. Yet again, this is not completely true.
The effect of stress or unwanted emotion will be a disruption to your body’s regular functions. So from that we can deduce that the stress will trigger hormonal imbalance and that will lead to acne.
However we can flip the coin on that as well. If you already have a hormonal imbalance then your body will not be functioning perfectly. This ends up in sensations of stress or emotional disturbance. That in turn leads in the direction of added hormonal imbalance and results in acne. It goes both ways!
In fact these three elements are absolutely and inseparably interrelated. Your acne issue is very unique to you, your daily life and your body. There really can be no miracle acne treatment since your acne is unique.
The most effective acne treatment regime is a program that acknowledges the three causes of acne and their interrelationship on each other. It must additionally take into consideration the way in which these three elements are performing within you as an individual.
